Gems

A few years back I signed up to receive daily emails from LDS Gems.  This past Sunday's Gem is below. Each day you receive a thought from a talk given by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. These thoughts inspire me to live a better life and become closer to my Savior.  They help me realize that the leaders love us and truly do receive divine guidance from God.  When I read these emails I often sit there nodding in agreeance and silently pledging to be better.  I start asking myself questions like how can I better serve? What do I need to change?  And ultimately, how can I become the person my Savior wants me to be?  I'm thankful for these daily thoughts of inspiration that help keep my life in perspective. These thoughts truly have a perfect name - Gems.

"To the duty designated by His Father, [the Savior] turned His face, pledged His heart, and gave His life. And what a sinless, selfless, noble, and divine life it was. Jesus labored. Jesus loved. Jesus served. Jesus testified. What finer example could we strive to emulate? Let us begin now, this very night, to do so. Cast off forever will be the old self and with it defeat, despair, doubt, and disbelief. To a newness of life we come—a life of faith, hope, courage, and joy. No task looms too large; no responsibility weighs too heavily; no duty is a burden. All things become possible."
—Thomas S. Monson, "Examples of Righteousness", Liahona and Ensign, May 2008
